White House Unveils New Moves On Guns

(Washington, DC)  --  The White House is unveiling new efforts to curb gun violence.  A White House statement says two new executive orders aim to keep some of the "most dangerous firearms out of the wrong hands."  One of the executive actions bans re-imports of military surplus firearms to private entities.  The other orders background checks when firearms are registered to a corporation or a trust.

In a White House photo-op, Vice President Joe Biden said the actions represent a "simple, common sense way to reduce gun violence."  Absent congressional action, President Obama has issued nearly two dozen executive orders aimed at reducing gun violence.  Biden added, "We're going to get this done."
